SHS Concert Percussion Ensemble Ranked 9th In USA!
The Scottsburg High School Concert Percussion Ensemble recently competed at the WGI (Winter  Guard International) World Percussion Championships in Dayton, OH on April 10th and 11th. The group came away ranked 9th in the nation. 
 
SHS JV Football Beginning And SMS Football Continuing.
The Scott County School District 2 Board of Education voted this month to begin junior varsity football and to continue football at the middle school."  This opportunity is available to SHS and SMS students. Over sixty students have already begun conditioning and preparing for the fall season.

We want to thank SHS Swim Coach Jason Carter and Matt Mihalik for volunteering their time for this program until a coach is named for our Warriors!"

SHS Winter Percussion Makes School History
Congratulations to the Scottsburg High School Winter Percussion Ensemble for qualifying for the WGI concert open class finals at the Percussion World Championships. This is the first time in the program's history that the group has achieved this accolade. The group will perform on Friday, April 11th at 4:10 PM in the Nutter Center at Dayton, Ohio. The group qualified in 8th place. 
SHS Concert Percussion Ensemble Puts Scottsburg On The Map
The Scottsburg Concert Percussion Ensemble finished in first place at the Winter Guard International Mid-South Percussion Championships at Western Kentucky University on Sunday, March 23rd.

This month's Alumni Focus is James Walton, SHS Class of 1999.   
SHS Archery Qualifies For Nationals
Scottsburg won an archery match at Christian Academy of Madison by a score of 3134 to 3114. Emily Pfaffenbach shot a blistering 289 for the honor of the highest overall score and first place shooter for Scottsburg; Rebecka Deaton turned in a personal best score of 279 for second place; and Jon Crawford also shot his best score of 274 for third place. Brian Gullion shot a respectable 270 to come in fourth place, and Dasha Deaton rounded out the top five with a 268.
 
Extended School Day End Date Changed
During the SCSD2 School Board meeting on March 11, 2014 the school board voted 4-1 to extend the snow make up extended days through May 1, 2014. SCSD2 called off school last week on March 3rd and 4th due to hazardous road conditions.

Online Reputation
These days many universities are searching online and social media platforms such as Facebook to 'research' potential students during their admission process.  Cindi Peterson of ORM Outreach has partnered with a few colleagues in order to provide some information as part of a non profit initiative to assist high school students in protecting their online reputation while searching for colleges.  Click here to visit their website for more information.

An historical milestone occurred during half-time of the boys varsity basketball game vs. Austin on Wednesday, Nov. 27.
